Bruce aldermen examined a prospective new lease for Community Eldercare and the Bruce Community Living Center.

Community Eldercare, the parent company of the living center, has sought a longer lease for several months, to guarantee the company time to recoup major investments it plans to make in the facility, including a new roof and upgrading the heating and cooling systems.

The lease presented for consideration at the aldermen's regular meeting this month would allow the company 10 years in the facility with two optional five-year extensions.

The board and mayor Robert Edward Oakley noted changes that should be made, ranging from contract terms to typographical errors, and returned the lease to Community Eldercare for the company's assent.

The board scheduled a meeting for Tuesday in expectation that a final draft of the lease will be ready for approval.
