Rimmer trial continued n Circuit court starts first session of the year. From staff reports PITTSBORO - The rape trial of Stacy Rimmer of Slate Springs has been continued to another term of circuit court. Rimmer was arrested March 26 last year and charged with rape and contributing to the delinquency of minors. A sheriff’s department investigation found that Rimmer used “date-rape” drugs such as Rohypnol to incapacitate at least two underage girls and have sexual intercourse. Rimmer has pleaded not guilty to the charges; and bond of $25,000 was set, with the conditions that he waive extradition from any other location, have no contact with the alleged victims or their families and restrict travel to within a 150-mile radius of Calhoun County. Oxford attorney David Minyard of the Hill and Minyard firm is Rimmer’s attorney of record. A motion approved by judge Robert Elliott allows all of the Hill and Minyard firm’s cases in the 3rd Circuit to be continued to another term. Other decisions handed down: n Larry Thompson’s murder charge, stemming from the shooting of his wife more than a year ago, was reduced to manslaughter. He was sentenced as a habitual offender to 20 years in prison, with 10 years suspended and 10 to serve. The sentence runs consecutively to other sentences he was already serving. He owes $389.50 in fines and fees. n Chris Jones received eight-year sentences on each of two counts of possession of methamphetamine and a 10-year sentence for child endangerment. The sentences run concurrently and are reduced to a year on house arrest and five years of post-release supervision. He must pay fines and fees of $2,514.50. n Rhonda Goodwin received a suspended one-year sentence and a year of probation on a charge of child endangerment. She must pay fines and fees of $1,889.50. n Tonya Bush was sentenced to time served on three charges of false pretense. She must pay fines and fees of $4,189.50. n Danielle Gray was sentenced to eight years in jail, suspended to three years’ probation on a cocaine possession charge. She must pay fines and fees of $2,114.50. n Antonio Marble was sentenced to five years in prison and participation in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program on nine counts of uttering forgery and five counts of false pretense. He must pay $3,634.50 in fines and fees. n Ashley Marie Herrod was sentenced to time served on three counts of false pretense and must pay $3,739.50 in fines and fees. n William Crowley pleaded guilty to uttering forgery and received a suspended five-year sentence and five years probation. He must pay $3,189.50 in fines and fees. n Christopher David Edmond received a one-year suspended sentence and a year of probation on a charge of selling marijuana. The sentence is consecutive to a previous sentence. He must pay $2,214.50 in fines and fees. n Marshall Fred Curtis Coleman received a five-year suspended sentence for uttering forgery. He was given credit for six months on a five-year probation period and must pay $2,389.50 in fines and fees. n Shawn Michael Turner received consecutive seven-year suspended sentences each on charges of burglarizing a commercial building and an automobile. He will serve two-and-a-half years of probation and pay fines and fees of $2,839.50. n Frankie Edmond’s probation was revoked. He will serve four years in jail, then three years on probation. n Billy Paul Tutor and Jimmy Joe Tutor were each sentenced to 15 years, 12 suspended, on a charge of burglary of a dwelling; and 10 years, seven suspended, on a charge of uttering forgery. The three-year sentences to serve on each charge will run consecutively. Both owe $1,564.50 in fines and fees. n Terry Moore received a suspended three-year sentence and three years’ probation on a charge of false pretense. n Anthony Pierce had 15 years of a 20-year sentence for criminal information on armed robbery suspended and must pay $1,364.50 in fines and fees. The sentence is consecutive to a previous sentence. n Lee Earnest White’s probation was revoked. He will serve five years in jail. n Robert Goodwin’s probation was revoked. He is sentenced to nine years in jail, but must participate in a drug and alcohol rehabiliation program, after which he may be released to a restitution center. He owes fines and fees of $3,877.20. n Conmetrius Wright’s probation was revoked. He received a three-year suspended sentence and must participate in a drug and alcohol treatment program and pay fines and fees. n Terrence Willis’s probation was revoked. He received a five-year suspended sentence and must participate in a drug and alcohol treatment program and pay fines and fees. n Eric Armstrong’s probation was revoked. He received a seven-year, six-year and four-year suspended sentences and must participate in a drug and alcohol treatment program and pay fines and fees. He must also participate in a GED program. n Wesley Jennings, Lauren Temetris Hubbard, Malcolm Moore and Lashaundra Armstrong agreed to pretrial intervention on their charges.
